Overview of Technology Many real-time communication technologies are available. Various options are discussed in the publication [1]. The basic requirement is a PC running the Microsoft Windows operating system (Windows 2000 or Windows XP), a high-speed connection to the Internet, and speakers / microphone connected to the system. The particular software used for the communication will depend on the application and the accessibility of the systems behind firewalls, and will have to be determined for each case.
